Americano
A built cocktail featuring Campari, Sweet Vermouth, Club soda.
Ingredients
- 30 ml Campari
- 30 ml Sweet Vermouth
- 1 Club soda
Method
- Fill a highball glass with fresh ice.
- Add Campari, Sweet Vermouth.
- Add Club soda last and stir gently to combine.
- Optional garnish: half orange slice and a lemon zest.
Story
It started life in the 1860s as the Milano-Torino, Campari from Milan and vermouth from Turin, lengthened with soda. The name is usually explained by its popularity with American visitors around Prohibition. It is also the first drink James Bond orders in Casino Royale (1953), well before the Vesper.
