A shaken cocktail featuring Licor 43, Espresso.

Carajillo cocktail

Ingredients

  • 3 oz Licor 43
  • 3 oz Espresso

Method

  1. Brew the espresso and let it cool before shaking to limit ice melt.
  2. Add Licor 43 and Espresso to a shaker.
  3. Add ice and shake until cold.
  4. Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice.
  5. Optional garnish: orange twist.

Story

Spanish coffee with a spirit, said to be named for the 'coraje', courage, it gave soldiers. In Mexico it is made with Licor 43 and has become the after-dinner drink of the country.
