El Gibson
A stirred cocktail featuring Mezcal, Vermouth Bianco, Onion brine.
Ingredients
- 1.5 oz Mezcal
- 0.75 oz Vermouth Bianco
- 0.5 oz Onion brine
Method
- Combine Mezcal, Vermouth Bianco and Onion brine in a mixing glass with ice.
- Stir until cold and diluted.
- Strain into a chilled Nick & Nora glass.
- Optional garnish: small wedge of pickled onion.
Story
A Martini with a cocktail onion. Claimed by the illustrator Charles Dana Gibson, who asked for something different at the Players Club, and by Walter D.K. Gibson, who believed onions prevented colds. Nobody knows which.
