Gin & Tonic
A built cocktail featuring Gin, Tonic.
Ingredients
- 60 ml Gin
- 120 ml Tonic Water
Method
- Chill the glass with ice and drain any meltwater before measuring in the gin.
- Fill a wine glass with fresh ice.
- Add Gin.
- Add Tonic Water last and stir gently to combine.
- Optional garnish: lime wedge or cucumber slice.
Story
British officers in India took quinine against malaria, and tonic water was the palatable way to do it, with gin added to make it more so. Schweppes sold the first commercial tonic in the 1870s. The quinine in modern tonic is a fraction of a medicinal dose.
Tips
- Fill the glass with ice and pour the tonic down the side so it keeps its fizz.
