Hurricane

A shaken cocktail featuring Dark Rum, Lemon juice, Passionfruit syrup.

Hurricane cocktail

Ingredients

  • 120 ml Dark Rum
  • 60 ml Lemon Juice
  • 60 ml Passionfruit syrup

Method

  1. Shake the rum, lemon juice, and passionfruit syrup with a small handful of pebble ice until most of the ice melts.
  2. Pour the entire mixture into a hurricane glass.
  3. Fill with fresh pebble ice.
  4. Optional garnish: a lemon wheel, or pineapple & Maraschino Liqueur.

Story

Pat O'Brien's in New Orleans created it in the 1940s, when bars had to buy large quantities of rum to get scarce whiskey, and served it in a glass shaped like a hurricane lamp.
