Bitter tropical rum cocktail.

Jungle Bird cocktail

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz Aged Rum
  • 0.75 oz Campari
  • 1.5 oz Pineapple Juice
  • 0.5 oz Lime Juice
  • 0.5 oz Simple Syrup
  • 1 piece Pineapple Wedge

Method

  1. Shake the rum, Campari, pineapple juice, lime juice, and syrup with ice.
  2. Strain over fresh ice in rocks glass.
  3. Garnish with pineapple wedge.

Story

Created around 1978 at the Aviary bar of the Kuala Lumpur Hilton, and unusual for a tiki drink in using Campari. It was largely forgotten until Jeff 'Beachbum' Berry republished it, after which the bitter-tiki combination became a modern favourite.
