Old Pal
A stirred cocktail featuring Rye whiskey, Dry Vermouth, Campari.
Ingredients
- 45 ml Rye Whiskey
- 30 ml Dry Vermouth
- 30 ml Campari
Method
- Combine Rye Whiskey, Dry Vermouth and Campari in a mixing glass with ice.
- Stir until cold and diluted.
- Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice.
- Optional garnish: lemon Peel.
Story
A sibling of the Boulevardier from the same 1920s Paris scene, made with rye and dry vermouth instead of bourbon and sweet. MacElhone credited it to William 'Sparrow' Robertson, a sportswriter for the Paris edition of the New York Herald who greeted everyone as 'old pal'.
