Tequila Sunrise
A built cocktail featuring Tequila Blanco, Orange juice, Grenadine Syrup.
Ingredients
- 45 ml Tequila Blanco
- 90 ml Orange Juice
- 15 ml Grenadine Syrup
Method
- Fill a highball glass with ice and add the tequila and orange juice.
- Slowly pour the grenadine down the inside of the glass so it settles toward the bottom.
- Serve without stirring to preserve the color gradient.
- Optional garnish: half orange slice or an orange zest.
Story
The modern grenadine version was created at the Trident in Sausalito in the early 1970s and took off when the Rolling Stones adopted it on their 1972 US tour. The Eagles' song followed a year later.
