A stirred cocktail featuring Rye whiskey, Fernet Branca, Simple Syrup.
Ingredients
- 60 ml Rye Whiskey
- 7.5 ml Fernet-Branca
- 7.5 ml Simple Syrup
- 4 dash Angostura Aromatic Bitters
Method
- Combine Rye Whiskey, Fernet-Branca, Simple Syrup and Angostura aromatic bitters in a mixing glass with ice.
- Stir until cold and diluted.
- Strain into a chilled coupe.
- Optional garnish: an orange peel and serve.
Story
A rye Old Fashioned with Fernet-Branca. Robert Vermeire printed it as the Fernet Cocktail in 1922, noting it was popular with Canadians; David Embury gave it the city's name in 1948.
